Qatar end of service gratuity calculator

Enter your basic salary and your dates. This estimates the statutory minimum under Qatari labour law — and shows both of the daily-wage methods employers here actually use, because they give different answers.

Basic only — exclude housing, transport and other allowances.

Use what your contract says if it gives more than the minimum.

This is an estimate, not legal advice. It applies the statutory minimum under Qatari labour law to the figures you enter. Your contract may provide more, and specific circumstances of leaving can change what is payable. Confirm your own position with the Ministry of Labour or a legal adviser before relying on any figure.
How this works

The rule, and where employers differ

Qatari labour law entitles an employee who completes at least one year of continuous service to end-of-service gratuity of no less than three weeks’ basic wage for each year, calculated on the last basic salary. Allowances are excluded. Service beyond a full year is normally paid pro rata rather than rounded down.

Where calculators disagree is the daily wage. Some employers divide the monthly basic by 30; others divide the annual basic by 365. The second gives a slightly lower daily rate, and over several years the gap becomes real money. Neither is unusual here, so this tool shows both and you can ask your employer which they apply — a more useful question than arguing about the total.

Everything is calculated in your browser. Your salary is never sent to us or stored anywhere.

If you run payroll rather than receive it, gratuity is one of the calculations that quietly goes wrong at scale — see ERPNext HR & payroll, attendance to payroll and WPS and HR systems in Qatar.

Questions

Common questions about gratuity in Qatar

How is end of service gratuity calculated in Qatar?

Under Qatari labour law an employee who completes at least one year of continuous service is entitled to a minimum of three weeks' basic wage for each year of service, calculated on the last basic salary and excluding allowances. Periods beyond a full year are normally paid pro rata. A contract may provide more than the statutory minimum, and many in Qatar do.

Do I get gratuity if I worked less than one year?

Not as a statutory entitlement. The law sets one year of continuous service as the threshold for end-of-service gratuity. You may still be owed other things on leaving, such as payment for untaken annual leave and any notice due under your contract, which are separate from gratuity.

Is gratuity calculated on basic salary or total salary?

On the basic wage, not the gross. Housing, transport and other allowances are normally excluded, which is why the figure is often lower than people expect. Check how your contract defines basic salary, because a package quoted as one total sum has to be broken down before gratuity can be worked out.

Why do two calculators give different answers?

Because employers use different daily-wage conventions. Dividing the monthly basic by 30 gives a slightly higher daily rate than dividing the annual basic by 365. Neither is unusual in Qatar. This calculator shows both so you can see the range and ask which your employer applies.

Can an employer refuse to pay gratuity?

Qatari labour law allows gratuity to be withheld in specific dismissal circumstances defined in the law. These are narrow and specific rather than at the employer's discretion. If gratuity is being refused, the Ministry of Labour handles labour complaints and is the place to raise it.

Does resigning affect my gratuity?

Completing the required service and giving proper notice under your contract normally preserves the entitlement. Leaving without serving notice can affect what is payable. Because the detail depends on your contract and the reason for leaving, confirm your own position with the Ministry of Labour or a legal adviser.
